A new textile panel in either Charcoal or Cardamom is used as a decor element on the dashboard of the 2025 XC90, with an ambient lighting element washing over a lower wood trim element which can be had in three colors: Light ash, Grey ash, or Brown ash.

A new steering wheel design sports an updated Volvo Iron Mark logo and takes pride of place ahead of a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation cluster.

The most significant update to the interior of the 2025 XC90 is a new 11.2-inch touchscreen running a Google built-in operating system, with Google Assistant voice functionality, native apps like Spotify, Google Maps, and the Google Play Store, and over-the-air updates to continually enhance the experience.

The 1,410-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system remains an option on the top-spec Ultra trim line, featuring 19 speakers and the exclusive-to-Volvo Gothenburg Concert Hall sound experience. This facelift also debuts a new speaker mesh design for this sound system shared with the EX90.

Three rows of seating are standard in the 2025 Volvo XC90 interior, with optional second-row captain’s chairs dropping the total seating capacity from seven to six. The Volvo XC90’s third-row seats are not advisable for adults and tall teens, however.

‘Nordico’ synthetic leather is standard upholstery on the 2025.5 XC90 in Charcoal and Cardamom color schemes, replaceable only on upper trims with Nappa leather in either Charcoal, Cardamom, or Blond. Limited to the Ultra trim is a Herringbone Weave fabric in a Navy color scheme.

The front fascia sports a twin diagonal grille design with a new shape, housed within a new front bumper design sporting new lower intakes. Chrome, or ‘bright’ as Volvo calls it, is the only option for the exterior trim.

The ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlights have been redesigned, now featuring a slim illuminated outline as an evolution of Volvo’s signature design element first introduced by the XC90 in 2015.

New wheel designs are available in three sizes, from 20 to 22 inches in diameter. The three designs are a 20-inch five-multi-spoke wheel, a 21-inch five-multi-spoke wheel with a snowflake-like design, and a 22-inch seven-double spoke wheel, all with black diamond-cut finishes.

Three powertrain options remain unchanged, with a turbocharged 2.0-liter B5 with mild hybrid assistance (247 hp/266 lb-ft), a twincharged 2.0-liter B6 with mild-hybrid (295 hp/310 lb-ft), or a plug-in hybrid T8 model using the B5 engine with a rear electric motor (455 hp/523 lb-ft) capable of 32 miles of electric driving. All are paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

Chassis updates include increased sound deadening in the A- and B pillars, a new Frequency Selective Damper (FSD) system, or available air suspension with multiple driving modes and ingress/egress easy-access functionality.

Seven exterior paint options are available, with a new hue in Mulberry Red added to existing options of Crystal White, Silver Dawn, Vapour Grey, Onyx Black, Denim Blue (pictured here), and Bright Dusk.
