Apple’s Home Hub Could Cost 0, With Its Success Likely Depending On Personalized Siri Integration Rather Than Price

Apple’s smart home hub has been running the rumor mill for a while, and it is slated to launch next year, which could redefine how users interact with their connected devices. The hub will be designed to serve as a unified control center for everything from lighting to entertainment. It is now being reported that the upcoming smart home hub will be priced at $350, placing it in the premium category, and the company believes that the cost will be justified.

Apple’s upcoming smart home hub aims to unify your connected ecosystem with Apple Intelligence and next-gen Siri

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple’s smart home hub will be priced at $350, and if you are unfamiliar, it will feature a 7-inch display and act as the central dashboard for HomeKit accessories, giving users complete control over their homes. Two versions are currently being developed, and one of them will be a wall-mounted variant, while the other will resemble a HomePod with a screen.

Apple will add its software magic to the smart home hub as well, and as per the report, this aspect would justify the price tag. The device is slated to integrate a FaceTime camera and advanced sensors capable of recognizing individual users, adjusting applications, music, and settings based on who is present in the room.

While the smart home hub could sit well in the company’s product line, its development has reportedly been delayed due to the ongoing work on next-generation Siri. The hardware and software integration is crucial to the success of the smart home hub, as without the new Siri, the device will be no more powerful than the HomePod that we currently use.

Next-gen Siri would be far more conversational and context-aware, making it a perfect match for the home hub’s interactive purpose. Sources have claimed that the hardware design is already complete, but Apple wants to ensure the updated Siri experience, powered by Apple Intelligence, is ready before release.

Price, competition, and Apple’s bigger goal

As mentioned, at around $350, Apple’s smart home hub will enter the market at a higher price point than rivals such as the Amazon Echo Show or the Google Nest Hub Max, both of which offer similar display-based functionality at lower costs. Apple is reportedly considering minor cost reductions before launch to make the product more accessible to users.

Beyond the device, Apple is also rumored to be developing a companion security camera and later, a tabletop robot featuring a motorized display with an arm. To ease supply chain pressure, Apple will assemble the product in Vietnam with BYD. These products would fall under the company’s home-based devices and will integrate with the smart home hub seamlessly. If the company can balance the price, performance, and innovation, the 2026 home hub could finally deliver on the promise of a truly Apple-powered smart home.
