Exterior
The exterior design of the Volvo EX30 offers a quirky vibe. The EV has a unique shape which is sure to make a statement on the road. At the front, there is no grille and the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlamps get a block pattern. Move on towards the side profile, and the classy 19-inch wheels with aero inserts lend the EX30 a classy and hunkered-down stance, which is unusual to see on a crossover.
The window line also curves upwards sharply near the C-Pillar to give it a distinguished look. At the rear too, the car continues to impress with its unique design elements like the taillamps, which get connected by two LED strips to give it a squarish look. Volvo has also given it a second set of taillamps sitting vertically over the first set.
The EX30 comes with five paint options, namely – Crystal White, Onyx Black, Cloud Blue, Vapour Grey and Sand Dune.

Interior
The Interior of the EX30 offers a premium and elegant design. With a focus on sustainability, Volvo has used recycled materials such as PET bottles, aluminium and PVC pipes to make it an eco-friendly proposition. According to Volvo, this is their most sustainable car with the lowest carbon footprint in the lineup. Design-wise, the car uses a central touchscreen to control most of the in-car functions. Interestingly, Volvo has also dropped the instrument cluster completely, with the readouts being moved to the centre display instead.

There are three colour options for the EX30’s interior, while you can even customise the wooden inlays with Pine, Breeze and Mist colour options.
Features
In terms of features, the new EX30 gets equipment such as a fixed panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats with powered lumbar support for the driver, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with Google Services, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charger and a powered tailgate.
Volvo, being one of the most safety-focused carmakers, has equipped the EX30 with a Level 2 ADAS suite, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist and even 7 airbags, including one between the driver and passenger seats! The EX30 also has a 5-star crash safety rating by Euro NCAP.
Powertrain
Underneath, the EX30 packs in a 69kWh battery pack with a WLTP-certified range of 480km. This is paired to a single electric motor punching out 272 PS and 343 Nm.

Rivals
The Volvo EX30 is the smallest EV in the carmaker’s lineup and goes against other luxury electric crossovers such as the BMW iX1, Kia EV6 and BYD Sealion 7. However, given its unique nature and small dimensions, it could possibly give competition to cars like the Mini Cooper SE too.

ZigSays…
The EX30 offers a very unique proposition for its target market, who desire a luxurious and sophisticated experience but in a compact package to navigate dense urban confines. While the segment is small, the EX30 offers a unique experience full of sophistication and luxury with a dash of quirkiness thrown in.
