‘100 Day Hotel Challenge:’ Watch the HGTV Star-Studded Trailer

Imagine all of your favorite HGTV stars got together for a renovation competition series—and they also filmed a Wes Anderson-style video to tease it. Well, those starring in the network’s upcoming 100 Day Hotel Challenge did exactly that, and House Beautiful can exclusively reveal the amusing trailer.

The video, a fresh divergence from HGTV’s typical promotion, gets right down to the basics of the competition series by mimicking Anderson’s signature color palette, camera movements, typography, actions, music, and so on and so forth. It opens with Farmhouse Fixer stars Jonathan Knight and Kristina Crestin clarifying the series technically involves renovating two motels, not hotels. It then focuses on husband-wife duo Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt of 100 Day Dream Home. In the new series, they compete against each other to fully renovate each motel under a tight budget and, of course, in 100 days.

Throughout the six-episode battle, Brian and Mika call in plenty of backup. First, they enlist Drew and Jonathan Scott as the judges, who are fittingly dressed for the part with robes and gavels in the video. Scott McGillivray of Vacation House Rules appears ready to get to work, saying “Let’s do this!” as he whips his sunglasses off in the trailer. Luxe for Less star Michael Smith Boyd can be spotted ringing a lobby bell—perhaps a signal of eagerness to start or an announcement that his work is complete.

We then get quick spotlights on the rest of the cast, including Bryan and Sarah Baeumler (Renovation Island); Galey Alix (Home in a Heartbeat); Carmeon Hamilton (Reno My Rental); Grace Mitchell (One of a Kind); Mike and Denese Butler (Fix My Frankenhouse); Lauren Makk (Urban Oasis); Cristy Lee (Battle on the Mountain); Poonam Moore (Rico to the Rescue); Kim Myles (Battle on the Mountain); and Kim Wolfe (Why The Heck Did I Buy This House?).

Only time will tell which team wins after giving their motel in North Carolina’s Salter Path a major makeover. If you’re eager to tune into the showdown, mark your calendar for the series premiere on August 13 at 8 p.m. ET. The weekly episodes will continue to drop on Tuesdays on HGTV and Max.
